[CPPD] Calcifications MTP Joint

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle or patient may seat on the examination table, knee flexed and the plantar surface of the foot on the table.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a longitudinal plane over the joints of the toe of interest.

Note: patient with cppd due to hypothyreoidism and proven cppd in several small and big joints. If the cartilage looses its superficial layers, the cppd crystals become more superficial and can appear like gouty crystals on top of the cartilage
