Injection CMC Joint

Patient Positioning

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a longitudinal planes over the joints and tendons of interest. Do not use any pressure - especially while looking for effusion or using doppler mode. Out of plane injection is performed through the thenar muscles from palmar.

Note: in plane injection of the TMC joint in a patient with activated rhizarthrosis. During in plane injection, it is important, that the probe has a stable position.

Note: starting with out of plane injection of the TMC joint with periarticular spread of the drug, then moving to in plane view for better visibility of the needle tip and intraarticular injection.
