Medial tendons – transverse

Patient Positioning

Patient lies prone, leg in extended position. You may put a small pillow under the ankle.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a transverse plane over the medial aspect of the dorsal joint.

SM: semimembranosus tendon
ST: semitendinosus tendon
SA: sartorius muscle

Note: From medial to lateral the following tendons - partially with muscle fibers - can be visualized: sartorius, gracilis, semitendinosus - located behind the semimembranosus tendon. At the lateral aspect, the tendon and muscle of the medial head of gastrocnemius can bee seen.
