Adductors – longitudinal

Patient Positioning

Patient supine, leg abducted and externally rotated, knee bent.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer in their long axis over the adductors. Three muscle layers should be visualized: superficial: adductor longus muscle (lateral) and gracilis muscle (medial), second: adductor brevis muscle, third and deepest layer: adductor magnus muscle

Note: Three muscle layers should be visualized: superficial layer: adductor longus muscle (lateral) and gracilis muscle (medial), intermediate layer: adductor brevis muscle, third and deepest layer: adductor magnus muscle. Try to scan the insertions at the pubis. Use dynamic scanning (active adduction).
