Toe joints – transverse

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle or patient may seat on the examination table, knee flexed and the plantar surface of the foot on the table.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a transverse plane over the joints of the toe of interest.

EDL: extensor digitorum longus tendon
EHL: extensor hallucis longus tendon

Note: use dynamic scannig with "Morton`s squeeze test" or "Mulder`s click sign" to visualize a Morton`s neuroma or intermetatarsal bursitis.
