[Gout] Synovitis / Tophus MTP Joint

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle or patient may seat on the examination table, knee flexed and the plantar surface of the foot on the table.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a longitudinal plane over the joints of the toe of interest.

Note: intraarticular urate depositis, synovitis with hyperemia in a patient with recurrent polyarticular gout
Note: intraarticular urate depositis (on top of the articular cartilage, too), synovitis with synovial proliferation.
