Flexor tendons – transverse

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine with a small pillow under the dorsal aspect of the ankle or legs in "frog-like" position. The ankle is lying on its lateral aspect.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer with its anterior part over dorsal aspect of medial malleolus. Dorsal to it, the flexor tendons  can be seen.

A: posterior tibial artery
V: posterior tibial veins
FDL: flexor digitorum longus tendon
TP: tibialis posterior tendon

Note: Follow each tendon from the myotendinous junction to its insertion distally as far as possible on short axis planes around the medial malleolus.
