Pellegrini-Stieda lesions

Patient Positioning

Patient lies supine, leg externally rotated, knee 20-30 flexed.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a oblique plane in orientation of the medial collateral ligament over the femoro tibial joint.

note: Pellegrini-Stieda lesion are ossified / calcified post-traumatic lesions at the medial collateral ligament closed to the margin of the medial condyle. Calcification usually begins to form a few weeks after the trauma.
