Sulcus n. ulnaris – transverse

Patient Positioning

Patient seated, arm in internal rotation, elbow extended - facing the examiner - with resting palm on a table (extension of the wrist).

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a transverse plane medially from the olecranon over the epicondylar groove, detect the ulnar nerve and follow its course distally trough the cubital tunnel.

Note: Use dynamic scanning (flexion of the elbow) to look for subluxation of the ulnar nerve. Try to follow its course cranially from the intermuscular septum, then through the epicondylar groove, the cubital tunnel and distally to the exit from the aponeurosis of the flexor carpi ulnaris.
