Block of suprascapular nerve

Patient Positioning

Patient seated on a revolving stool, arm in slight internal rotation. Elbow flexed (90°), palm up.

Probe Positioning

On the top of the shoulder in a coronal plane over the supraspinous fossa at the lateral side. Perform the intervention in plane, the probe is held perpendicular incisura scapulae, a notch on the superior border of the scapula through which the suprascapular nerve passes.

Shoulder anterior view
note: first show the incusura scapulae (a notch on the superior border of the scapula through which the suprascapular nerve passes). The angle of the needle may be quite steep, so the needle may be difficult to be seen in plane. Moving the tip of the needle dynamically helps you detecting its position.
