Posterior cruciate ligament – longitudinal

Patient Positioning

Patient lies prone, leg in extended position. You may put a small pillow under the ankle.

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on longitudinal plane over the medial aspect of the dorsal joint on the long axis of the posterior cruciate ligament (remember its position of each knee).

note: In case of injury of the posterior cruciate ligament, an enlargement of the entire ligament, appreciated by comparison with the contralateral normal PCL, focal disruption of the ligament or a hematoma may be detected.
