Transposition of ulnar nerve

Patient Positioning

Patient seated, arm in internal rotation, elbow extended - facing the examiner - with resting palm on a table (extension of the wrist).

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a transverse plane medially from the olecranon over the epicondylar groove, you will not detect the ulnar nerve in this case, move proximal to detect it at the medial aspect of the upper arm.

Patient suffered from dislocation of the ulnar nerve at the level of the epicondylar groove and has been operated (transposition and neurolysis of the ulnar nerve, the ulnar nerve is now located anteriorly to the medial epicondyle). After the nerve (round honeycomb structure) has been detected proximal to the medial epicondyle, follow it distally. It moves now all the way anterior to the medial epicondyle and no longer in the epicondylar groove or the cubital tunnel.
