Spinoglenoid notch cyst - entrapment suprascapular nerve

Patient Positioning

Patient seated on a revolving stool, arm in slight internal rotation. Elbow flexed (90°), palm up (hand can be placed on the ipsilateral thigh).

Probe Positioning

After scanning the glenohumeral joint, the tendons and muscle bellies on transverse planes (long axis of the tendons) examine these structures on their short axis statically and dynamically (internal and external rotation of the arm).

Note: Spinoglenoid notch ganglion cysts are a location-specific form of ganglion cysts that arise in the region of the spinoglenoid notch. They may result in compression of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch and lead to impaired function of the infraspinatus muscle.
