Fossa olecrani / triceps – transverse

Patient Positioning

Patient seated, the elbow flexed (90°) either with resting forearm on a examination table and "overhanging" elbow or resting palm on a table (extension of the wrist).

Probe Positioning

Place the transducer on a transverse plane over the olecranon and move the probe cranially over the triceps tendon.

Note: The triceps tendon and the triceps muscle are evaluated in long and short axis planes. Evaluate the superficial olecranon bursa without pressure (under normal conditions without effusion not visible).
